A passenger bus rammed into a van on a highway in eastern Pakistan, killing 13 passengers and injuring several others, police said.
MULTAN, Pakistan — A speeding passenger bus collided with a pickup truck on a highway in eastern Pakistan, killing 13 people and injuring several others, a police spokesman said on Saturday.
District police spokesman Mohammad Awais said the accident happened at night in Rahim Yar Khan, a district of Punjab province. According to him, the dead and injured were all taken to hospital.
Awais did not provide further details, saying officers were still investigating the cause.
Traffic accidents in Pakistan usually occur due to violation of traffic rules, causing thousands of deaths or injuries every year. Last month, a bus crashed into a pole and fell off a bridge, catching fire and killing 40 passengers in the southern district of Lasbela.
