Hi, yes, hello! So at this point it goes without saying Barbie The most anticipated film of the summer of 2023.
Directed Greta Gerwig and written by Greta and Noah Baumbach, Barbie will follow Barbie (Margot Robbie) as she lives in Barbieland with Ken (Ryan Gosling) and other Barbies and Kens. But one day, Barbie decides to travel to the real world.
While everyone is interested in the film, the actual plot has remained somewhat of a mystery. Although several characters, including Margot, said it was one best script they’ve read.
Well, now we finally have our first full-length trailer, with more of the actual plot, and yes, I’ve chuckled more than once at these great one-liners.
As we assumed, Barbie lives happily ever after in her little Barbie Land until she decides to travel out into the real world after a few things go wrong – like her flat feet.
With a little help from Kate McKinnon’s Barbie, Barbie travels to the real world to learn more about her, and Ken decides to tag her along.
But Barbie’s existence in the real world isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Barbie and Ken get arrested, Mattel’s CEO (Will Ferrell) does everything he can to get “back in a box,” and so on.
We also finally have context for those viral photos of Margot and Ryan rollerblading as Barbie and Ken.
And first, let’s look at America Ferrera’s character, who seems to work for Mattel but is excited to have Barbie in the real world.
It all looks absolutely perfect and I’m loving every detail of the plot we’ve gotten so far.
I mean, the trailer’s tagline literally reads, “If you love Barbie. This movie is for you. If you hate Barbie. This movie is for you.”
Additionally, the trailer gives us a first look at Dua Lipa’s new song, Dance the Night Away, which will be her first single. Barbie. And finally, a little snippet of Nick Minaj’s cover of Aqua’s “Barbie World.”
