Damian Lillard is encouraging fans to sign a petition to replace him

All good things in life run their course and must come to an end. Professional sports and athletes who play the games we love are not exempt from this rule. We may witness it the beginning of the end in Portland For Damian Lillard and the Blazers. Some would say it’s been over for a while, but after the tweet Dame sent out in response to some of her fans who wanted to replace her, it seems she’s finally had enough of at least part of her fan base.
“If fans want to trade me…start the petition and submit (shrug emoji)Dame Time said in a quote.
The relationship between Lillard, the organization and the city of Portland seems to have been on a tightrope for a couple of years. The team went as far as they could, led by Dame and CJ McCollum. Since reaching the Western Conference Finals in 2019, Portland has not advanced past the first round of the postseason and has not advanced in the past two years.
It’s kind of Lillard’s fault in some people’s eyes, though he’s always seemed to love the franchise and the city. Many would say that Dame Dolla was loyal to a fault and should leave the Pacific Northwest to play for a real contender. But he missed the Blazers and their fans, who are finally ready to move on.
After sticking with the team for so long and shooting down any analyst or writer who said he should have left years ago, it’s easy to see how a sudden fan upheaval could lead to him fizzling out. Maybe that’s how Lillard felt at the time, but he feels like he’s getting tired of the constant criticism he’s received from the people he’s been around to try and bring home the championship.
