Joe Jonas jokes about fixing issues with Frankie Jonas
If you’ve kept up with the Jonas Brothers over the years, you might be aware of the past tension between the three band members — Nick, Joe, and Kevin — and their younger brother, Frankie.
Kevin, Joe and Nick, aged 35, 33 and 30, make up The Jonas Brothers. They were only teenagers when they rose to fame after appearing on the Disney Channel, and have since gone on to have successful careers as solo artists before reuniting as a trio in 2019.
22-year-old Frankie is not a member of the gang, and consequently grew up in the shadow of his brothers’ success – which took a huge toll on him.
Frankie said that when he was a child, his parents decided that his older brothers would pursue their careers. Bustle In April 2021, he felt that his future was “dying slowly”.
“It was a conversation – I don’t remember it, but I was told about it – about my brothers’ fans, who were also related to me like this symbol, like this mascot. “Frankie could theoretically act.” It could be in their shows. He can continue the legacy of the mascot-like character,” he said.
Frankie also noted that he hated being nicknamed “Bonus Jonas” by the band’s fans, and later by the Jonas Brothers themselves. “A lot of my problem with being in the public eye was that I was seen as this commodified vision of myself,” she said.
And Frankie recalled seeing several tweets mocking him and labeling him the “forgotten” Jonas brother when he was just 12 years old.
“It became a form of self-harm to look at these things,” he said. “Then it basically became an OCD like a tic. I could not stop. I checked every day and I had to feel good in a way. This has become a real problem for me. A lot of things kept me thinking that I was just this meme.”
“I was the joke and my whole identity with people was ‘neighborly,’ which really affected me, the way I thought about the world and the way I felt about myself,” she added.
Shortly after Frankie opened up about her heartbreaking experience, Joe revealed that he had privately apologized to her for calling him ‘Bonus Jonas’ for years.
“I refused to call Frankie ‘Bonus Jonas’ after he told me how hurtful it was to him,” she said.
“It makes perfect sense,” he continued. “And we had long conversations and apologies behind closed doors, which showed that I understood and respected his wishes.”
“I think it’s unfair to feel that something is second, third or fourth best,” he added. “We are all equal.”
In recent years, Frankie has gained a huge following after becoming somewhat of a TikTok sensation – something she says she feels is “validating”.
“Everything I talk about on TikTok… nobody knew I was talking like that, that’s how I express myself, which I think is funny,” she said. “I was just joking, I thought no one could hear them. Then people heard them and liked them. I thought, I will continue to do so, because I never really had anything to do. This seems so much my thing. It feels so empowering to have something.”
In addition to making his own music these days, Frankie often posts content that pokes fun at his older siblings. Last year, for example, he drove internet users into a frenzy after him and his girlfriend Dressed up as Joe and his ex Taylor Swift For Halloween.
Fast forward to today and Nick, Joe and Kevin have appeared PopBuzz The YouTube channel answered a series of ‘truths’ Jenga-style last week – and it wasn’t long before Frankie’s name came up.
After pulling a Jenga block out of the giant tower, Joe read aloud, “If you had to be stuck in an elevator with one of your siblings for 24 hours, who would you choose?” Almost immediately he replied, “I feel like our youngest brother, Franklin.”
Kevin’s jaw dropped immediately when Joe mentioned Frankie’s name. But then Joe joked, “You could do more of a few things.”
At this point, Kevin burst out laughing as Nick giggled too – as did the crew members off camera. Seconds later, Nick quickly changed the subject as he grabbed the next Jenga block in the game.
As soon as the clip about the exchange shared on social media, fans raised eyebrows at Joe’s brief comment.
“So much beef between Frankie and the other 3,” someone wrote TikTokbefore adding: “It’s not real, but it’s funny.”
“I feel like this was a shade for Frankie,” another person wrote.
“Kevin’s face indicated there was DRAMA involving Franklin,” someone suggested, while another echoed, “ooooo Joe and Franklin eeeeee.”
