First, there’s Elizabeth Olsen Love and Death as Candy Montgomery, a housewife and mother who had an affair with her neighbor Allan Gore in the late 1970s.
And here is the real Candy Montgomery. In 1980 it was accused that he murdered Allan’s wife Betty. He pleaded self-defense, saying Betty attacked him first after learning of the affair. Candy was eventually found innocent.

Here’s Lily Rabe as Betty Gore. Her marriage to Allan it was supposed to be rocky already when Candy approached him about his affair.
And here is the real Betty Gore. Died after Candy hit him 41 times with an ax on June 13, 1980.
