Suns coaching candidates include Nick Nurse, Doc Rivers

Doc Rivers and Nick Nurse are among the final candidates Phoenix SunsA coaching position is vacant, several media outlets reported on Tuesday

Nurse was recently fired as coach of the Toronto Raptors.

Rivers, who led the Boston Celtics to the 2007-08 championship, recently lost his job as coach of the Philadelphia 76ers.

He is among the applicants for the Phoenix job Days Associate head coach Kevin Young and Sacramento Kings associate head coach Jordi Fernandez, according to ESPN and The Athletic

In addition, The Athletic listed another ex-NBA champion coach, Frank Vogel, among the top five Days finalist. Vogel guided the Los Angeles Lakers to the 2019-2020 crown

According to ESPN, the Days there are only four finalists to face the brass of the franchise

THE Days fired coach Monty Williams after the team lost in six games to the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference semifinals. The Nuggets then swept the Lakers and advanced to the NBA Finals

Williams, the NBA Coach of the Year, led the 2021-22 a Days 45-37 this season. In his second season on the Phoenix bench, Days reached the 2020–21 NBA Finals before losing to the Milwaukee Bucks. Williams, 51, had a regular-season record of 194-115 in four seasons with Phoenix.

Rivers, 61, compiled a 154-82 record during his run with the 76ers, making his career 1,097-763 with the Orlando Magic (1999-2000-2003-04), Boston (2004-05-2012 -) 13.), the Los Angeles Clippers (2013-14-2019-20) and Philadelphia (2020-21-2022-23).

Nurse, 55, had a 227-163 record with the Raptors, his only NBA head coaching job.

Vogel, 49, is 431-389 with the Indiana Pacers (2010-11-2015-16), Orlando (2016-17-2017-18) and Lakers (2019-20-2021-22).

Young, 41, was an assistant with the 76ers for four years before spending the past three seasons as an assistant in Phoenix.

Fernandez, 40, spent six years as an assistant with the Nuggets before spending the current season with the Kings.
