The Yankees designated Aaron Hicks for assignment

THE New York Yankees Designated Aaron Hicks for assignment Saturday and signed fellow outfielder Greg Allen to the major leagues and added him to the roster.
Hicks has more than two years left on the seven-year, $70 million contract he signed in 2019. In 28 games on the season, he is hitting .188 with one homer and five RBIs.
Hicks, 33, had a career .230 hit with 101 home runs and 356 RBIs in 898 games with the Minnesota Twins and Yankees
“It is what it is,” Hicks told the New York Post. “That’s part of the business side. I’ve just got to move on to the next chapter. … It’s a really good baseball team. It just kind of felt like it wasn’t working out for me.”
The 30-year-old Allen a Yankees on Friday in a trade with the Boston Red Sox
He is a career .232 hitter with 10 homers and a 67 ERA in 282 games with the Cleveland franchise, the San Diego Padres. Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates
