This Michael Irvin situation is getting weirder and weirder
NFL Hall of Famer last month Michael Irwin pulled from TV during Super Bowl week on a misdemeanor charge. Since then, things have gotten messy. The saga continued on Tuesday.
Below is a link to the security footage posted on March 14, 2023. Irvin appears to be on it. to talk to the woman who made the allegations.
The video is so important because Irvin used to He sued for $100 million against the Marriott – where the incident took place – as he believes he is being “ironed” with false allegations that will ruin his career.
“Honestly, I’m a little confused about it all” Irvin told the Dallas Morning News in February. “All this happened in a 45-second conversation in the lobby. When I got back after I went out… I went into the lobby and talked to someone. I talked to this girl. I don’t know him and I spoke to him for about 45 seconds. We shook hands. Then I left. … That’s all I know.”
Based on reportsthe charges against Irvin read:
“Early in the interaction, Marriott’s attorneys stated that Irvin “said this [the female hotel employee] he was attractive and reached out to shake his hand, asked his name and introduced himself as ‘Michael’.” Moments later, Marriott alleged, Irvin “during the conversation reached out and touched the victim’s arm without consent, causing the victim to step back and visibly uncomfortable.”
“Irvin then asked the victim if she knew anything about a ‘big black man’ inside [her]’” the announcement continued. “Appalled by Irvin’s comments, the Victim responded that his comments were inappropriate and did not wish to discuss the matter further. Irvin then tried to grab the victim’s hand again and said he was sorry for bringing back bad memories. The Victim pulled his hand away and tried to back away from Irvin as he continued to advance.
Irvin passionately denied the allegations.
“It Hurts Me” Irwin said. “It takes me back to when a white woman accused a black man of something and they dragged him through the mud and hung him on a tree. … It just blows my mind that in 2023 we’re still dragging and hanging, brothers.”
